The project I am working on focuses on the impact of microplastics on Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD).
Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD) are multifactorial diseases. In my thesis, I am interested in the effects of microplastic pollution on these diseases. The aim is to investigate whether microplastics could play a role in the increasing prevalence of IBD, more specifically by promoting intestinal inflammation and negatively affecting the intestinal barrier and the gut microbiota.
