Introduction

Carine Bossenmeyer-pourié, joined in 2004 the NGERE INSERM laboratory to work on the influence of the nutritional status in methyl donors (folate and vitamin B12) on brain development and aging. She has dissected epigenomic mechanisms (methylation, acetylation and miR expression) related to developmental anomalies induced by methyl donor deficiency. In parallel she demonstrated the influence of the nutritional status in methyl donors on fetal programming through the remodeling of developmental gastric cellular organization, leading to dysfunction of the ghrelin system, perturbation in the brain-gut axis communication and to impaired hypothalamus development. She demonstrated that the N-homocysteinylation of key neuronal protein disturbed neuronal differentiation and plasticity and study presently the role of this post-traductional modification in the pathophysiology of neurodegenerative diseases.
