Animal facility

The animal housing is an establishment that uses animals for scientific purposes and meets the regulatory requirements in this field. It is located in the NGERE laboratory. The animal housing sector is divided into 7 technical rooms allowing the functional analysis (phenotypic, metabolic or behavioral) of animals.

To carry out its experiments, the laboratory owns :

  • an endoscope for small animals (Karl Storz)
  • a mobile anesthesia machine (Tem Sega) to ensure a controlled and precise anesthesia.
  • a ventilated rack to ensure a controlled and healthy housing thanks to a filtered ventilation system, and an optimal confinement of the cages for the management of transgenic mice. The whole is controlled by a ventilation unit connected to monitor the environmental conditions in the rodents’ cages.
  • A behavioral platform with different devices to study the behavioral phenotype (mobility, anxiety, exploration, memory, reflex) of the animals following various treatments or diets;
  • An acquisition camera (Viewpoint) allows to record many parameters such as distance, speed, and trajectory of the animals.
